Oral arguments are set to begin this afternoon in a Sedgewick County courtroom in a pre-trial hearing that will decide whether the state’s prosecution of abortion provider George Tiller should be stopped.

Lil Wayne is at the Sprint Center, the soulful Marc Broussard is at the VooDoo Lounge, there’s motocross at the Sprint Center, some name-brand comics are in here, and all weekend long, giving hope that summertime will happen … the boat show! the boat show! the boat show!

KC Film Critics announce year's best

“Slumdog Millionaire” was named the best picture of 2008 in voting Sunday by two dozen members of the Kansas City Film Critics Circle. Director Danny Boyle’s Dickensian drama about a boy’s journey from poverty to wealth in contemporary India also was honored for Simon Beaufoy’s adapted screenplay.
